HDB Resale

HDB has made profit by selling Singaporean flats. Buying a house is the financial commitment we will make. If you want to buy resale HDB flat from the market you should consider the aspects like entering into option to purchase, eligibility to buy, financial planning etc. Before you search for a house doing your sums and homework is a great start for smooth resale flat transaction.

Before you buy a resale flat, you should satisfy the eligibility conditions.


Public: - should be aged 21 years at least. Family nucleus-The applicant can have spouse and children if any or single with parents & siblings or can be widowed or divorced or separated with children legally under their custody. Fiance/Fiancee: - should be at least 21 years of age. Family nucleus- Should be couples wishing to get married. Marriage certificate should be produced to HDB before 3 months from resale completion date. For couples who are applying for CPF House grant should submit it on or before resale completion date. Single Singapore citizen:- must be at least 35 years of age, 21 years for orphans and widows.

Family nucleus- Single person, who is widowed, divorced or unmarried.Joint singles:- should be related or unrelated singles. An orphan or window/ widower should be aged at least 21 years can apply with other single citizen with at least 35 years of age. The non citizen spouse:- should be at least 21 years of age and Family nucleus- Should be married to a non citizen person The non citizen spouse should have at least 6 months social visit pass. Non-citizen family:- should be at least 21 years of age. Family nucleus- Applicant should be single with parents and siblings or applicant should be widowed or divorced or separated and children legally under his custody. Orphans:- should be at least 21 years of age. Family nucleus- A single orphan applicant with his siblings.

Unmarried siblings cannot buy or rent separate flats under Orphans scheme. If orphan is the only child and single he can apply under SSC scheme and age should be at least 21 years.Citizen / SPR Siblings:- should be at least 21 years of age. Family nucleus- Two single siblings and parents must not be SCs and should not be residing in Singapore permanently. Siblings of same parents cannot buy separate flats. Conversing Scheme:- Should be at least 21 years of age. Family nucleus- Applicant, spouse and children if any or applicant, parents and siblings or Applicant, who is widowed, divorced or separated with children legally under his custody. You can buy 2 units of 3 room or small flat from open market or and adjoining 3 room or small flat from the open market. You should be flat owner of 3 room or small flat.

Home purchase is financial commitment for you and family. Before buying a resale flat, you should do financial planning. From 1st January, 2007 HDB requires every flat buyers who want to obtain HDB loan should apply for HDB Loan Eligibility HLF letter before buying a flat. The buyers of resale flat should obtain HLF letter before buying an apartment.
