Jurong West Newtown is the largest Newtown in the western part of Singapore and is being built by the Housing Development Board. It has an area bounded by Pan Island Expressway, boon Lay, Upper Jurong Road and Jurong Lake.
Jurong West has an area of 9.87 sq km in which the residential area is about 4.80 sq km. Jurong West is densely populated area as it is one of the biggest industrial hub of Singapore and most of the industries of this town are at Boon Lay area, the estimated population of Jurong West is about 211,000 peoples. In the past Jurong West was land of lakes, ponds and dense forest; in 1960 the area was developed into industrial estate so from there on vibrant housing-estate work grew up. At present there is wide range of amenities present here in Jurong West which is suitable for both work and play. The hot spots for tourism in Jurong West are Singapore Discovery Center, Jurong Crocodile & Reptile paradise and Jurong Bird Park. The Jurong west town is also home for the Raffles Marina, Nanyang Technological university and club house.
Jurong West is served by two MRT satiations and they are Boon Lay MRT and Lake Side MRT and among the bus services the prominent bus services are Trunk Services, SSB Transit, SMRT and Night Services. In 1990 Pioneer Road North was built to connect the present Jurong West Extension with Upper Jurong Road.

This shopping center has more than 450 shops, so it is considered as one of the biggest suburb mall in Singapore. The total area in which this shopping mall is based on is nearly about 450,000 sq km.
