Simei Newtown is a small housing estate in the Eastern region of Singapore and geographically it is in the east of Bedok Newtown and south of Tampines. It is close to Pan Island Expressway and East Coast Park. Most of the development in this area is done by Housing Development Board.
Simei was once a Malay kampung which means it is a type of village in which the prime lively hood of the public there is vegetable farming and poultry farming. Some part of simei was a swamp forest in the past. Simei was named after Chinese word which means ‘Four beauties’ (Xishi, Yang Guifei, Wang Zhaojun and Diao Chan), who were considered as the most beautiful women of ancient China. Once this Malay kampung was by the side of sea but know as the land got reclaimed for the development, sea is no longer visible now.
Simei is a housing estate in which most of its area is used for residential purpose, here one can find range of housing options as it has HDB flats, executive condominiums, private housing estate and landed property. Simei is popular place for expatriates.
Though simei itself doesn’t have any industrial area but it is very close to the industrial region of Upper Changi Area. Simei lies before the Singapore Expo which is large complex and is built to meet international conventions, it is also close from Simpang Bedok which is a local stomping ground and is famous for 24 hours eateries.

• The Institute of Technical Education is established here recently and which is spread in area of 10 hectares.
• The Eatpoint Mall which is near to Simei MRT station is a six storey building it is an NTUC financing super market which fulfils all the possible commercial needs of Simei residents. This shopping center is popular for its line dancing as it is organized here daily.
Simei is just 5 minutes away from Simpang Bedok where the residents of Simei can find 24 hours coffee shops. There are also many country clubs around Simei like Laguna National Golf & Country Club and the Tanah Merah Country Club.
Simei is served by Simei MRT station and the bus services which circulates trough Simei are Trunk Service, Feeder Service, SSB Transit, SMRT and Night Service.
